Listed below are just a few samples of what we’ve done for some of our clients. Let us know what we can do for you!

  • The client, an international provider of management training and development services to Fortune 500 clients, needed to replace a DOS-based mission critical delivery management system.

Together with a strategic partner and working against fixed deadlines, Fulcrum designed a complete web-based delivery management system that enables the client to successfully manage the process of delivering training materials to its clients.

The system uses a three-tier architecture that includes a web browser-based interface, custom Visual Basic middle-tier components, and multiple Microsoft SQL Server back-end databases. The client's existing data, in DBF format, was converted and loaded into SQL Server as part of the project.

  • A leading manufacturer and marketer of stolen-vehicle recovery technology needed an enterprise-level intranet system to manage the capture and fulfillment of orders for its products and services.

Working with a strategic partner, Fulcrum analyzed the business requirements and jointly designed the appropriate middle- and back-end tiers of the application. During this process, Fulcrum worked extensively with the client and its "Big 5" accounting firm to integrate the new system with the client's Great Plains accounting software at the database level.

The system developed uses a three-tier architecture that includes a web-browser-based front-end, middle-tier components built with Visual Basic, and a back-end SQL Server database. The client's existing data, in DBF format, was converted and loaded into SQL Server as part of the project

  • We designed a warehouse location-management system for a nationally-known textile manufacturer. Using client/server, barcoding, and radio frequency (RF) technologies, the system successfully manages a $10 million inventory for the client’s 85,000 sq. ft. distribution center and helps the client’s staff locate and ship 500,000 pounds of product in a typical week.
  • For a leading manufacturer of surgical supplies, we designed a radio frequency (RF) based warehouse “putaway” system that tracks finished goods as they enter and move throughout the company's warehouse. The system updates the client’s Minneapolis AS/400-based inventory on a regularly-scheduled basis, allowing staff in any of the client’s remote offices to view available inventory in nearly real time.
  • For a leading textile printing, dyeing, finishing, and coating company, we designed a barcode data collection software system for use in handheld barcode scanners. The software tracks the movement of in-process raw materials throughout a 500,000 sq. ft. warehouse, and validates finished goods ready for shipment to customers. By downloading bills of lading from the client's in-house software to the barcode scanners, our system validates outgoing product against the bills and prevents costly shipping errors.
  • We helped an independent software company design and add new features to their existing product, a commercial software application currently in use by numerous teams within the National Hockey League (NHL). The software allows professional hockey scouts to record notes about prospective players' skills and attributes.
  • We developed a database system to facilitate the business planning and financial contract-management process for a major defense contractor. The system automates the flow of financial data from a central database to more than 100 business spreadsheet models that are used by senior management to analyze contract profitability. A process that previously took days or even weeks is now performed in hours.
  • We developed a database system to track a defense contractor's outstanding warranty liability for products sold to its customers. The system tracks and reports on shipments, ship dates, and part and serial numbers associated with configurations ("kits") defined within the database. The database supports unlimited nested configurations and individual part revisions.
  • As a subcontractor to a Marlborough consulting company, we designed and developed a database system for a well-known downtown Boston financial services company. The system moves data between the client’s database and dozens of spreadsheet models that analyze profitability scenarios for commercial mortgage-backed securities portfolios. A process that used to take hours now takes minutes.
  • For a processor and recycler of electronic scrap, we developed a comprehensive lot tracking and reporting system that uses component-based architecture, barcode labeling and scanning technology, and shop-floor weigh-scale integration. The system allows operators to label incoming material to be processed, route it through the facility "on the fly", and weigh and track material at each step in the process. Management tools allow supervisors to view and report on the status of work in process in real time.
  • We helped a nationally-known aquarium construct a new database to determine trends of interest to research scientists studying an endangered population. Fulcrum worked closely with the aquarium’s scientists to develop programs that assist in reviewing, cleansing, and reporting on the data. The researchers now spend less time "handling" the data and more time analyzing and interpreting the data.
